Massive red and white canyon walls, million dollar house boats, endless desert sunshine… Need I say more?

Boating on Lake Powell in Arizona (and Utah) was the perfect way to end our Arizona hiking trip.

We rented our power boat through Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas at Wahweap. While the customer service was subpar, the rental only cost us about $150 each for the day, which was by far the cheapest rental in the area.

(So worth it! Would have been even cheaper with more people.)

We were free to explore Lake Powell on our own, swimming and cruising through the epic canyons.

If you visit Lake Powell, you can’t miss boating through:

-Navajo Canyon (my favorite).
-Antelope Canyon.
-The ritzy house boat marinas.

Want to visit White Pocket (AKA, The Wave dupe)? Here’s how. 🌞👇🏼

White Pocket is an epic, otherworldly road trip location tucked in the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument — just a couple hours outside of Page, Arizona.

If you’re bummed you didn’t win a permit to The Wave, this spot is the perfect alternative.

And, guess what? You don’t need a permit.

Instead, you just need a 4WD high clearance vehicle, which are readily available to rent all around Arizona.

The road to White Pocket, which takes about an hour to drive (two hours from a Page), is actually more like a deep sandy trail.

While our Jeep had no issues, many people who attempt the drive without 4WD/high clearance get stuck. So, the proper vehicle is a must.

Also, the road turns to waist-deep quick sand after heavy rain, so be sure to check the weather before you go.

Or, go with a guide! There are tours available to take if you don’t feel comfortable driving in sand.

Either way, the journey is so worth it.

Once you arrive to White Pocket, the rock formation is a short two minute walk from the parking lot.
