Wondering where to stay in Positano, Italy, on a budget? Allow me to formally introduce you to Hotel Casa Albertina.
It is no secret that Positano is a notoriously pricey coastal city. Filled with wealthy retirees, cruise-ship-sized private yachts and satin fashion, a luxe vacation to Positano could easily put a dent into someone’s savings. Luckily, not all of the luxury aspects of Positano are out of a budget-friendly reach.

Review Of Affordability
Hotel Casa Albertina, otherwise known as Albergo Casa Albertina in Italian, is an extremely affordable boutique hotel in Positano. Given the luxury complimentary terrace breakfast buffet, iconic balcony-view rooms and the overall fantastic culture of the hotel (all of which we’ll talk about in more detail later), Hotel Casa Albertina is ridiculously cheap.
A night at Hotel Casa Albertina costs as low as $100 USD, depending on the season and demand. While, of course, this nightly rate could add up quickly for a week’s stay, the majority of the accommodations options in Positano cost well over $100 USD per night. Additionally, luxury hotels of this caliber, such as Le Sirenuse or Hotel Poseidon, can cost anywhere between $500-$1500 USD per night.
You can book your stay directly through Hotel Casa Albertina’s website here.
Or, if you have a travel credit card, you may be able to book for free through your credit card. That’s how we did it! We booked through our Capital One Venture card and only had to pay a total of 36 euro for the city tax.
Review Of Comfort
Hotel Casa Albertina maintains a very homey environment. As you walk through the entrance, you’re met with exactly how you would imagine a charming Italian boutique hotel to look and feel: white stucco archways, old Italian couches, decorated white metal terrace chairs as well as friendly staff members. It honestly feels as though you are staying in the charming home of a rich Italian.
As far as room comfort goes, the bed is as comfortable as expected in a European hotel (i.e. not quiet as plush as hotels in the United States). However, the bedroom and bathroom are kept very clean with daily housekeeping.
Furthermore, this hotel is air conditioned, which is really rare in Europe! And it is certainly necessary on the hot Amalfi Coast.
Review Of Culture (Where To Stay In Positano, Italy, On A Budget: Hotel Casa Albertina)
In all honesty, there are no words for the kindness of the hotel staff here. I have never in my life been greeted with so many warm smiles.
The owner and/or other Italian staff welcome you immediately upon entrance to the hotel. Likewise, the chef, who will greet you every morning for breakfast, has an immense servant’s heart. He even memorized our coffee orders by the end of our stay.
It is very obvious that a family owns and runs Hotel Casa Albertina.
Review Of Location
Hotel Casa Albertina is a short five minute walk down cobblestone steps to Spiaggia Grande (the main beach). However, I must warn you that a five minute walk down steps to the beach translates to a 10-15 minute walk back up the steps, So, make sure you bring good walking shoes. I personally recommend these white Nike Air Max Excee Sneakers or these cute yet practical Teva sandals. Both pairs still look great with every outfit in photos.
Nonetheless, Hotel Casa Albertina is definitely within walking distance to the beach.
In addition, the hotel is only two flights of stairs down to fun shops and the legendary Michelin-star Da Vincenzo restaurant. And, every time you see a picture of the iconic Positano view, you will see Hotel Casa Albertina near the top! (Hint: it’s the red building with white arches toward the top of the above photo.) Talk about a fun souvenir!
Review Of Amenities (Where To Stay In Positano, Italy, On A Budget: Hotel Casa Albertina)
Apart from the incredible Positano terrace views and air conditioning, I wouldn’t be able to offer a full Hotel Casa Albertina review without mentioning the complimentary terrace breakfast.
If you have followed my Italy trip on my Instagram, you already know about this hotel’s complimentary breakfast buffet — flaky pain au chocolate, traditional prosciutto & fresh Amalfi fruit all on the charming hotel terrace with a city view. We legitimately looked forward to breakfast every single night before we went to sleep. This hotel converted me into a breakfast person, and I long for the day I return to Casa Hotel Albertina just for the included breakfast.
