It’s the Nordic blood in me. ❄️ Ironically, It’s the Nordic blood in me. ❄️

Ironically, we did happen to “escape the cold” during this winter Rocky Mountain National Park trip. It was -45 at home and literally 70 degrees warmer in the Colorado mountains hahaha.
Here’s our EXACT 3-day itinerary for Kyoto, Japa Here’s our EXACT 3-day itinerary for Kyoto, Japan, including our bullet train travel day. 🇯🇵 And, honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Tips…

Go to Fushimi Inari Shrine and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest as soon as it starts to get light out in the morning (I’m talking like 5:30 a.m.) if you want any shot at taking photos without crowds!

Also… The monkey park was my favorite. 🙊

Location: Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park

Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the USA, peaking at over 12,180 feet of elevation. 🤯 As you could imagine, the road closes to vehicle traffic during the winter because of snow. BUT, you can still hike, snowshoe or cross-country ski on it in the winter!

We rented skis at Estes Park Mountain Shop, parked at the Many Parks Curve Overlook parking lot and skied away. ⛷️

Would you ski here?

This whole weekend we joked that we were “escaping the cold” on this winter Rocky Mountain National Park trip because it was around 25 degrees Fahrenheit there and -45 degrees in Wisconsin.

All of the Denver locals were like, “You picked a cold week to be here.” And we were like, “No no… We picked the perfect weekend to be here.” 🤣

Where To Stay In Positano On A Budget

Wondering where to stay in Positano on a budget? Allow me to formally introduce you to Hotel Casa Albertina.

It is no secret that Positano is a notoriously pricey coastal city. Filled with wealthy retirees, cruise-ship-sized private yachts and satin fashion, a luxe vacation to Positano could easily put a dent into someone’s savings.

Luckily, not all of the luxury aspects of Positano are out of a budget-friendly reach.

Hotel Casa Albertina Reviews: Affordability

Hotel Casa Albertina, otherwise known as Albergo Casa Albertina in Italian, is an extremely affordable hotel in Positano.

Given the luxury complimentary terrace breakfast buffet, iconic balcony-view rooms and the overall fantastic culture of the hotel (all of which we’ll talk about in more detail later), Hotel Casa Albertina is ridiculously cheap.

A night at Hotel Casa Albertina costs as low as $100 USD, depending on the season and demand.

While, of course, this nightly rate could add up quickly for a week’s stay, the majority of the accommodations options in Positano cost well over $100 USD per night. In fact, luxury hotels of this caliber, such as Le Sirenuse or Hotel Poseidon, can cost anywhere between $500-$1500 USD per night.

You can book your affordable stay at Hotel Casa Albertina directly through Booking.com here.

Or, if you have a travel credit card, you may be able to book for free through your credit card. That’s how we did it! We booked through our Capital One Venture card and only had to pay a total of 36 euro for the city tax.

(P.S. if you’re looking to open a travel credit card and aren’t sure which card to open, I have a free downloaded quiz here that will tell you exactly which card is best for you.)

Hotel Casa Albertina Reviews: Comfort

Hotel Casa Albertina maintains a very homey environment.

As you walk through the entrance, you’re met with exactly how you would imagine a charming Italian boutique hotel to look and feel: white stucco archways, vintage Italian couches, decorated white metal terrace chairs as well as friendly staff members.

It honestly feels as though you are staying in the charming home of a rich Italian.

As far as room comfort goes, the bed is as comfortable as expected in a European hotel (i.e. not quite as plush as hotels in the United States). However, the bedroom and bathroom are kept very clean with daily housekeeping.

Furthermore, this hotel is air conditioned, which is really rare in Europe and certainly necessary on the hot Amalfi Coast.

Hotel Casa Albertina Reviews: Culture

In all honesty, there are no words for the kindness of the hotel staff here. I have never in my life been greeted with so many warm smiles.

The owner and other Italian staff welcome you immediately upon entrance to the hotel. Likewise, the chef, who will greet you every morning for breakfast, has an immense servant’s heart. He even memorized our coffee orders by the end of our stay.

In the best way possible, it is very obvious that a family owns and runs Hotel Casa Albertina.

Hotel Casa Albertina Reviews: Location

Hotel Casa Albertina is a short five minute walk down cobblestone steps to Spiaggia Grande (the main beach in Positano).

However, I must warn you that a five minute walk down steps to the beach translates to a 10-15 minute walk back up the steps. So, make sure you bring good walking shoes.

Nonetheless, Hotel Casa Albertina is definitely within walking distance to the beach.

In addition, the hotel is only two flights of stairs down to fun shops and the legendary Michelin-star Da Vincenzo restaurant.

Plus, every time you see a picture of the iconic Positano view, you will see Hotel Casa Albertina near the top! (Hint: it’s the red building with white arches toward the top of the above photo.) Talk about a fun souvenir.

If you’re looking to rent a budget-friendly car for your trip to Positano, check out Discover Cars, a company that helps you quickly and easily find the most affordable car rental options.

Hotel Casa Albertina Reviews: Amenities (Where To Stay In Positano On A Budget)

Apart from the incredible Positano terrace views and air conditioning, I wouldn’t be able to offer a full Hotel Casa Albertina review without mentioning the complimentary terrace breakfast.

positano on a budget

If you have followed my Italy trip on my Instagram, you already know about this hotel’s complimentary breakfast buffet — flaky pain au chocolate, traditional prosciutto & fresh Amalfi fruit all on the charming hotel terrace with a city view.

We legitimately looked forward to breakfast every single night before we went to sleep. This hotel converted me into a breakfast person, and I long for the day I return to Hotel Casa Albertina just for the included breakfast.

Overall Rating of Hotel Casa Albertina

What is it like staying at this fabulous Positano hotel? Answer: A dream.

amalfi coast hotels cheap

If you do not know where to stay in Positano on budget, Hotel Casa Albertina is, by far, the way to go.

My husband and I both agree that it would be hard to return to Positano and not stay here again. Between the affordability, fantastic location and notable company culture, Hotel Casa Albertina is an absolute luxury-on-a-budget win.

What do you think? Would you book your stay at Hotel Casa Albertina?

Hello! Most people fly into Rome when visiting Positano, but the closest airport to Positano and Hotel Casa Albertina is in Naples. The fastest way to get to Hotel Casa Albertina from the Naples airport is by car, which takes about one hour. From Rome, a straight drive takes about 3.5 hours. Hope this helps!
