Despite the typically expensive costs of a luxury Bora Bora vacation, there are actually ways to visit Bora Bora on a budget. There are even ways to find cheap overwater bungalows in Bora Bora.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia, remains one of the most envied vacation destinations in the entire world. Between its crystal clear blue lagoon and its dreamy overwater bungalows, there is no wonder why Bora Bora catches the eye of thousands of honeymooners and luxury vacationers every year.
Don’t believe me that cheap Bora Bora overwater bungalows exist? Well, you should start believing.
I know this is a fact because my husband and I personally honeymooned in a fairytale-like Bora Bora overwater bungalow. And, we paid less than it would have cost to luxe-honeymoon in “cheaper” destinations like the Caribbean islands or Mexico.
Where To Find Cheap Overwater Bungalows In Bora Bora
The answer to finding cheap overwater bungalows in Bora Bora is actually quite simple: Costco Travel.
Through Costco Travel, which I’ll explain more thoroughly in a second, you can get cheap Bora Bora vacation packages with flights, hotels, overwater bungalows, ground/water hotel shuttles, breakfast buffets, some activities and more all included.
What Is Costco Travel?
Costco Travel is essentially Costco’s travel agency.
If you’re familiar with the savings that Costco retailers can provide in bulk groceries, furniture, electronics, etc., it probably won’t come as much of a surprise to learn that Costco Travel saves its fans a ton of money on travel, too.

In fact, while we were in Tahiti on our way to Bora Bora, our hotel shuttle driver (a local) said, “Costco Travel has the best Bora Bora vacation package rates, by far.” This local’s comment only solidified what we already knew.
Why Costco Travel Has The Best Bora Bora Vacation Packages
There are hundreds of Bora Bora discount vacation packages out there, so why choose Costco Travel?
I’m not usually even the type of traveler who would recommend purchasing an all-in-one travel package because you can typically find cheaper options out there, but I would recommend purchasing — and will again be purchasing — from Costco Travel.

(By the way, this blog post is not sponsored by Costco Travel. All of these thoughts are based on my own genuine experiences.)
Costco Travel Customer Service Review
Apart from the cheap Bora Bora rates and package inclusions (which I’ll cover next), Costco Travel’s customer service was unmatched.
From the easy booking process that happened over the phone to a last minute flight change that we made while in Bora Bora, the Costco Travel customer service staff were friendly, excited about their work and eager to help. (After the lengthy 30 minute wait time on hold, of course.)

I have a couple of tangible examples of their brilliant customer service from my Bora Bora package in particular.
First, when we initially booked our trip, the staff member asked us if we would like to take the default flight out, or, if we would prefer to take the red-eye flight the night before so that we could have an extra day in Tahiti — free of charge.
We obviously chose the red-eye, and we when got to the resort early the next morning, there was already a complimentary day-room and pool pass waiting for us. We didn’t even have to wait until check-in time to enjoy the resort.

Furthermore, when we were in Bora Bora, we realized that we were about to have an eight-hour layover in Tahiti on our way home.
Clearly, we would rather spend those eight hours enjoying Bora Bora, so we decided to call Costco Travel to see if there was a later flight from Bora Bora to Tahiti.
There happened to be a later flight, and Costco Travel changed our flight with no problem. We were only charged $40 USD for the airline’s flight-change fee, and we were able to spend an extra eight hours at our resort.

What Is Included In Costco Travel’s Cheap Bora Bora Overwater Bungalow Package?
Speaking of flights, let’s discuss the Costco Travel Bora Bora overwater bungalow package inclusions.
Now, the inclusions will vary per package and by date, but this list will at least give you an idea as to what you could expect.
Package Inclusions
We booked the Tahiti: InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Buyer’s Choice Romance Package and chose to go in November, one of the cheaper months. This cheap Bora Bora overwater bungalow package included:
- Round-trip flights to Tahiti from LAX.
- Lei greeting at the airport in Tahiti.
- Two nights at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort in the Superior Ocean-View Room.
- Ground transportation to and from the Tahiti airport (shared shuttle).
- Daily continental breakfast buffet in Tahiti and Bora Bora (think lots of French pastries and local mango nectar).
- Flight from Tahiti to Bora Bora.
- Lei greeting at the airport in Bora Bora.
- Water shuttle to the resort.
- Five nights at the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort in the Horizon Junior Suite Overwater Bungalow.
- Welcome drinks upon arrival to the resort.
- A half-bottle of champagne upon arrival to the room.
- One romantic three-course dinner in Bora Bora.
- Unlimited Wi-Fi.
- All taxes and resort fees.
- And more.

Complimentary Resort Amenities (Cheap Overwater Bungalows Bora Bora)
The list above does not even include the individual resort amenities that were included, such as:
- Infinity pool accessibility.
- Snorkeling gear.
- Paddle boarding.
- Kayaking.
- Traditional outrigger canoeing.
- And more.

Now, you’re probably dying to know how much this dreamy vacation cost us.
Before I give you the grand total, I have a quick disclaimer. Please note that, as always, the costs of travel can fluctuate depending on year, time of year, supply/demand, etc. The prices below are merely the prices that we paid at the time of our trip.
(Hint: if you’re on a tight budget, be flexible with your travel dates. You’ll be able to get the best rates possible this way.)
How Much The Costco Travel Bora Bora Package Costs
I’ll get straight to the point.
With taxes, our package cost $2894.76 per person for a grand, two-person honeymoon total of $5829.52.

To put it in perspective, the average cost of a flight to Bora Bora for one person alone averages $2500, according to this article.
Likewise, our Bora Bora overwater bungalow normally costs an average of $600/night. That’s $3000 for five nights, which is more than the package rate per person.
Crazy, right? I have no idea how Costco Travel can package the flights, luxury accommodations and all of the other amazing inclusions for this low of a price.

It must have been a great trip and honeymoon!
It was truly a trip of a lifetime!
Thank you for sharing this!! My wife and I our planning our 40th wedding anniversary and we have always dreamed of going to Bora Bora. I appreciate the information concerning Costco travel. I called them yesterday to discuss our plans and our agent was so very helpful. Any thoughts you might have about upgrading the overwater bungalow? Or is the Sapphire Bungalow a great experience as well? My wife and I are Christians and I truly appreciate your spiritual perspective in your blog. Thank you!
Kirk, thank you for your kind words! I’m so glad you found value in my post. And happy early anniversary! We were automatically upgraded as a part of our honeymoon package, and we felt grateful. I would say that if you are hoping for as much seclusion and the best views as possible, upgrading your bungalow may be worthwhile. Otherwise, you will have an amazing experience either way! Hope this helps — let me know if you have any other questions!
