With this guide, packing for Disney World will be a breeze.
Plus, I also have guides to the best women’s walking shoes here and the best tried-and-true waterproof makeup here to ensure you’ll have everything you need.
How can I be stylish at Disney?
You can be stylish at Disney by wearing Disney outfits that are both trendy and comfortable — think neutral outfit basics (like denim shorts and white tanks) and flattering athletic wear (padded crop tops, biker shorts, tennis skirts and tennis dresses).
Here’s the key. You definitely don’t want to sacrifice comfort for style in Disney World by wearing itchy poof dresses and heels. You will regret it.
You’ll be walking a minimum of 10 miles per day, and if you’re not going during the winter months, you’ll be sweating a lot.
But, don’t worry! You can wear trendy Disney outfits that are timeless and comfortable, too. Here are some of trendy Disney outfits you can wear this year.
Trendy Disney Outfit Basics
Let’s start with the basics.
1. Comfortable Walking Shoes
Comfortable walking shoes are an absolute must in the Disney parks.
As previously mentioned, you will be walking a minimum of 10 miles each day, so your feet will be sore by the end of each day no matter how comfortable of shoes you wear.
This is not the trip to be breaking in new shoes or testing how far you can walk in heels. You’ll want to wear your most tried-and-true walking shoes.
In my opinion, the best walking shoes for Disney that are cute, comfortable and don’t need to be broken in are these white Nike Air Max tennis shoes and these black Teva Verra sandals.
I especially love my Teva Verra sandals for Disney because they are completely waterproof, so your feet dry quickly after those daily Florida rain showers.
Similarly, I’m a big fan of these white Nike Air Max tennis shoes because they are just as trendy as the popular white Nike Airs, but they are way more comfortable.
You can find a deeper review of these shoes (and more walkable travel shoes) here.
2. Extra Socks
Furthermore, consider bringing extra socks to Disney. Why? Because you’ll be miserable walking around soggy, wet, post-rain socks.
If you opt to wear tennis shoes instead of waterproof sandals, you’re going to want to change into a dry pair of socks after walking through puddles.
I brought this ten pack of white socks to Disney, and I had plenty of socks to last me the entire trip. Also, because these socks are longer, they prevented my ankles from rubbing wrong against my shoes.
3. Poncho (Trendy Disney Outfits)
Likewise, ponchos are essential in Disney, especially at the Disney parks in Florida.
In Florida, it rains almost every single day. Ponchos inside of Disney World are overpriced due to high demand, so save yourself some cash by purchasing cheap ponchos ahead of time.
We bought these button-up reusable ponchos from Amazon prior to our trip, and were able to stay dry everyday and save over $20 USD.
4. Minimal Makeup
If you haven’t already noticed, you’ll get wet in Disney World — by both rain and sweat. That’s why I highly recommend wearing minimal makeup to Disney.
If you’re the type of person who loves to wear a full face of makeup on vacation to look spectacular in pictures, I get it. I’m the same way. But, trust me, you’ll regret it in Disney.
I wore a full face of makeup on our first day in Magic Kingdom, and I profusely sweat it all off by noon. Maybe that’s a TMI, but I’m willing to embarrass myself now to spare you embarrassment and discomfort later.
If you opt for the complete makeup look, though, I swear by these waterproof makeup products. I even wore them on my wedding day (and didn’t have to touch-up once).
5. Hair Updo (Trendy Disney Outfits)
Moreover, if you hate the feeling of hair sticking to your face and neck, you’ll definitely want to wear your hair up in Disney.
Mickey ears and Disney hats are a fantastic, easy way to dress up an updo, too. We’ll talk more about these Disney ears and hats a moment.
6. Wearable Rechargeable Portable Fan
Lastly, before we get into the individual trendy Disney outfits, you’re also going to want to buy a wearable rechargeable portable fan for Disney if you don’t already have one.
When I say that this rechargeable portable fan lanyard saved my sanity on my Disney trip, I am not kidding. I completely credit this fan with my ability to enjoy Disney in the September heat (110 degrees Fahrenheit).
I particularly love that you can recharge this fan with a portable phone charger (we used these portable phone chargers in Disney), so you never have to go a second without air blowing directly on your face and neck.
Trendy Disney Outfit Ideas
Now for the trendy Disney outfits!
1. Oversized classic Mickey t-shirt with biker shorts and Mickey ears.
Oversized t-shirts and biker shorts are a sure-fire way to look trendy and simultaneously be comfortable in Disney.
I love that oversized shirts are loose and breezy to prevent overheating, and the biker shorts are long enough to prevent thigh chafing.
I bought this vintage Mickey shirt for Magic Kingdom because it’s subtle, not too obnoxiously Disney-themed and a classic black shirt that I will wear again outside of Disney. (Plus, the black color hides pit stains.)
Also, I found this subtle black Genovia t-shirt on Amazon that I absolutely fell in love with. (Princess Diaries fans… If you know, you know!)
Next, I buy all my biker shorts from Old Navy. Old Navy has super high quality athletic apparel for a fraction of the price of other retailers. Plus, these Old Navy biker shorts have pockets to keep your phone secure while riding rides and walking around the parks.
Finally, top off this trendy Disney outfit with these cheap classic Mickey and Minnie ears for a timeless, all-black Disney look.
These ears come in a two-pack for under $10 from Amazon; whereas, buying one pair of ears inside the parks will cost you at least $30 USD. They are cheaper quality than the official park ears, but they’re still definitely worth the purchase!
I also used an adorable checkered claw clip to keep my hair up this day. I love how the checkered pattern looked with the vintage Mickey top.
2. Padded athletic crop top with tennis skirt and Mickey ears.
Like the loose shirt and biker shorts, athletic crop tops and tennis skirts (or biker shorts) make an incredible comfortable trendy Disney outfit.
Athletic crop tops and tennis skirts are totally practical for those sweaty Disney days. Plus, they are both super trendy this year.
I got this entire outfit, both this athletic crop top and this tennis skirt, from Old Navy. (Again, I love Old Navy’s athletic wear.)
Finally, top this trendy Disney outfit with these rose gold or animal print Minnie ears from Amazon.
These ears are also a fraction of the price of official park ears, and they are so cute. The animal print pair of Minnie ears in the two-pack are perfect for Animal Kingdom, and you can wear the gold pair in any of the parks.
3. Tennis dress with Mickey ears or a Disney hat. (Trendy Disney Outfits)
Next, a tennis dress is a perfect alternative to biker shorts or tennis skirts.
Once again, tennis dresses are super practical for the Disney heat. And, they’re an iconic trend this year.
This tennis dress from Amazon is astonishingly high quality. The material is so buttery, soft, comfortable and flattering — best of all, it has pockets.
I will definitely be buying this tennis dress in more colors.
Top this trendy Disney outfit off with Mickey ears or this subtle “that girl” Disney baseball hat, and white socks and tennis shoes, for a complete off-duty-model Disney look.
4. White tank with denim shorts and Mickey ears.
Lastly, the fourth (one for each Disney World park) trendy Disney outfit idea, is a simple yet timeless white tank top with denim shorts.
I got this white tank from Old Navy because it was super affordable (under $10 USD). Plus, the white color helped keep me cool in the Orlando sun.
Any denim shorts will pair with a white tank; however, I highly recommend packing a longer pair of denim short if you are prone to chafing. The last things you’ll want to deal with in Disney World are two raw bleeding thighs.
I used this cheap mess-free Gold Bond chafing stick every morning to help prevent chafing, and, surprisingly, I came out of each park rash-free. Otherwise, I’d bring a travel-size baby power (like this one) to help prevent chafing.
What should an adult wear to Disney?
Any of these trendy Disney outfits would be perfect for an adult to wear to Disney. Just remember to bring comfortable walking shoes and to wear your hair up.
Also, keep in mind that the Disney parks prohibit adults and children (14+) from wearing costumes outside of their special seasonal events, such as Magic Kingdom’s Halloween party. So, don’t try to dress up like Cinderella. You will get kicked out of the parks.
