In June in Paris, you will want to dress for warm weather. Women should dress in loose cool clothing, such as sundresses and linens, in Paris in June. Men should wear short-sleeve polo tops, and khakis or linen bottoms. Generally speaking, avoid jeans in Paris in summer unless they are loose-fitted and adhere to Parisian trend.

Parisians do wear shorts in summer. However, they do not wear the same type of shorts you may be accustomed to. Instead of wearing short denim shorts, Parisians may wear loose linen or khaki shorts. European locals always look very put together in public, so you won’t find denim shorts and T-shirts in Parisian wardrobes.

Similarly, people do wear sandals in Paris. Although you may see more people wearing tennis shoes in Paris thanks to the walkability of the city, people do wear sandals. In particular, you will see people in Paris wearing dressy leather sandals or supportive walking sandals as opposed to casual flip flops.

Yes, you can wear shorts in Paris in July. Paris is usually hot in July, averaging high daily temperatures of 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26 degrees Celsius) and lows of 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius). Most of the Paris city attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe, lack substantial shade, which makes Parisian summers feel even hotter.

Needless to say, you don’t need a jacket in Paris in July. While a light sweater or blazer may be nice for chilly nights, you most likely won’t even need that.

This August Paris packing list is nearly the same as the July Paris packing list. July and August are the hottest months of the year there, so it makes sense that you will need a few extra essentials to keep cool and protected from the sun, such as a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

My favorite travel essential for hot climates is my personal portable fan from TUNISE. This fan can be attached to a lanyard to keep your face cool hands-free all day long and is key for someone who is heat-sensitive. Plus, it doubles as bedside table hotel room fan and a portable phone charger.

In addition, I love the Sun Bum SPF Face Mist for summer days in the city. With this specific sunscreen, I can easily reapply sunscreen on my face throughout the day without caking sunscreen over my makeup.

What Not To Wear In Paris In Summer

  1. Short shorts.
  2. Cargo shorts.
  3. Colorful gym shoes.
  4. Berets.
  5. Uncomfortable shoes/sandals.
  6. Flip flops.
  7. White and black stripes.
  8. Touristy backpacks.
  9. Tourist apparel.
  10. Long-sleeves.
  11. Sweatpants.
  12. Expensive jewelry (pickpockets).
  13. Expensive sunglasses.
  14. Cameras.
  15. Selfie sticks.

You do not want to look like a tourist in Paris in summer because you will be a target for pickpockets and scammers. To fit in with the locals, opt for dressier attire both day and night. Pay extra attention for pickpockets on public transportation and near the main Paris attractions.

Scammers also like to hang around popular attractions. They may ask you to take a “survey” or something along those lines, so quickly respond with a polite “no thank you” and walk away.
