Looking for the best Green Bay, Wisconsin, things to do? Lucky for you, I grew up just outside of Green Bay and have lived here almost my entire life. In fact, my high school prom was held at Lambeau Field! Whether you’re visiting for football, work or leisure, here are the best things to do in Green Bay from a local.
Watch A Packer Game

First and foremost, this Green Bay travel guide simply wouldn’t be complete without including football. Watching a Packer Game at the iconic Lambeau Field is easily one of the best things to do in Green Bay, Wisconsin. If you want a true Green Bay football experience, tailgate before the game with a round of bean bag toss and Spotted Cow in hand. In my opinion, the best time to watch a Packer game is in October. In October, the air is cool and crisp, and the leaves are bright yellow, orange and red. If you want to know what to wear for a football game at Lambeau, check out my Packer game outfit guide here.
Tour Lambeau Field
Not visiting during football season? No worries! You can still experience football legacy in Green Bay by taking a tour of Lambeau Field. During the tour, you get to see behind-the-scenes practice areas, hear about the stadium’s history and/or even step foot on the field. There are a variety of different tours that operate regularly, so click here to see which tour is best for you.
Enjoy Family-Friendly Activities In Titletown

In addition, the Titletown District of Green Bay offers tons of family-friendly activities all year round. Whether you want to play catch on the mini-field, do yoga by floor-to-ceiling windows, ice skate around a Christmas tree or tube down a snow hill, Titletown has a lot of fun in store. You can see all of the seasonal activities available in Titletown here. Of course, there are dozens of restaurants and pubs in Titletown too, so you never have to leave. I personally recommend the pizza from Hinterland.
Indulge In Dinner At Republic Chophouse

Green Bay, Wisconsin, is truly a hidden gem for Wisconsin foodies. My husband and I have tried a variety of Green Bay eateries, and our favorite, by far, is Republic Chophouse. This steakhouse is a splurge, so come prepared to spend over $100 for two people. But, the food is well worth it. They always serve bread with delectably unique house-made butters — usually a combination of a regular whipped butter, cheddar butter and a sweet butter flavor. We’ve tried sweet vanilla butter, chocolate mousse butter, s’more butter and more, and they were all mouthwatering. Additionally, the tomato bisque is a non-negotiable starter to our usual steak (included with steak). The calamari is exceptional too.
Try Authentic Cheese Curds At Hagemeister Park
What food is Green Bay known for? Cheese curds. You have got to try the fried cheese curds at Hagemeister Park during your trip to Green Bay. As a born-and-raised Wisconsinite, I can attest that these are some of the best Wisconsin cheese curds out there. Dip them in ranch dressing to adhere to authentic Wisconsin tradition — or marinara, which is my preferred dipping sauce of choice.
Take A Day Trip To Door County

Door County is my favorite region of Wisconsin. In fact, we visit at least once a year. Known for its cherry wineries, Scandinavian influence and coastal lifestyle, Door County is truly the Cape Cod of the Midwest. Vacationers will love the quaint seaside vibes, restaurants (my favorites are Wild Tomato for pizza, and Al Johnson’s for authentic Swedish pancakes and goats on the roof). Meanwhile, outdoorsy visitors will love being on the coast of Lake Michigan, perhaps hiking through Peninsula State Park or kayaking along the bluffs of Ephraim.
Take The Ferry To Washington Island

Furthermore, Washington Island lies right off the tip of the Door County peninsula, making it a worthwhile day trip from Green Bay, especially during lavender field season. Not only is Washington Island home to photo-worthy lavender fields, but this freshwater island is also home to the clearest water in the United States. Yes, you read that right. According to a study done by the Florida Panhandle, Schoolhouse Beach in Washington Island, Wisconsin, has the nation’s clearest water. I recommend you visit Washington Island in July and August for peak lavender blooms and swimmable weather. Read all of the best things to do on Washington Island here.
Ride Zippin Pippin At Bay Beach Amusement Park
If you aren’t keen on leaving Green Bay proper, head to Bay Beach Amusement Park for some fair food, rides and fun. The park is filled with all your classic amusement park rides, such as giant swings, tilt-a-whirls and even a rollercoaster named Zippin Pippin. Zippin Pippin has become quite the household name for Green Bay and Fox Cities locals, as it’s somewhat a right of passage to ride for elementary and middle school aged kids.
Stroll Through The Green Bay Botanical Gardens
Alternatively, for a laid back thing to do in Green Bay, I recommend strolling through the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. Surprisingly, these botanical gardens are especially exciting in the winter months, as they’re covered with Christmas lights and decorations to walk through. In mid-autumn, the trees boast beautiful fall colors. And, of course, in spring and summer, the flowers are blooming. There is also an elaborate, modern playground here to keep children entertained (which, fun fact, my husband happened to help build).
Visit The Green Bay Museums
Green Bay is home to a variety of museums, including the Green Bay Packers Hall Of Fame And Museum, the Neville Public Museum, The Children’s Museum of Green Bay and Heritage Hill. We’ve already mentioned a few football things to do, family-friendly things to do, and we’ll discuss Heritage Hill next. So, let’s talk about the Neville Public Museum. Although I haven’t been to the Packers Hall Of Fame, the Neville Public Museum is my favorite of the Green Bay museums thus far. Neville gives great insight into the lives of Green Bay residents from native rule through the Industrial Revolution to present, as well as the nature that inhabits and has inhabited the area.
Step Back In Time At Heritage Hill
Lastly, you can step back in time at Heritage Hill if you’re looking for particularly unique things to do in Green Bay. Heritage Hill, as their about page states, is a 56-acre “living history state park” that is committed to “nurturing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the history of Northeastern Wisconsin and its people.” I personally took visited Heritage Hill in elementary school on a school field trip, and I remember feeling as though I had stepped into the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder from Little House On The Prairie. I’ll never forget learning how to make butter manually here.
