    Let's be friends!

It’s the Nordic blood in me. ❄️ Ironically, It’s the Nordic blood in me. ❄️

Ironically, we did happen to “escape the cold” during this winter Rocky Mountain National Park trip. It was -45 at home and literally 70 degrees warmer in the Colorado mountains hahaha.
Here’s our EXACT 3-day itinerary for Kyoto, Japa Here’s our EXACT 3-day itinerary for Kyoto, Japan, including our bullet train travel day. 🇯🇵 And, honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Tips…

Go to Fushimi Inari Shrine and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest as soon as it starts to get light out in the morning (I’m talking like 5:30 a.m.) if you want any shot at taking photos without crowds!

Also… The monkey park was my favorite. 🙊
Lack of oxygen was worth it. Location: Trail Ridg Lack of oxygen was worth it.

Location: Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park

Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the USA, peaking at over 12,180 feet of elevation. 🤯 As you could imagine, the road closes to vehicle traffic during the winter because of snow. BUT, you can still hike, snowshoe or cross-country ski on it in the winter!

We rented skis at Estes Park Mountain Shop, parked at the Many Parks Curve Overlook parking lot and skied away. ⛷️

Would you ski here?
It’s literally 70 degrees warmer in Colorado. T It’s literally 70 degrees warmer in Colorado.

This whole weekend we joked that we were “escaping the cold” on this winter Rocky Mountain National Park trip because it was around 25 degrees Fahrenheit there and -45 degrees in Wisconsin.

All of the Denver locals were like, “You picked a cold week to be here.” And we were like, “No no… We picked the perfect weekend to be here.” 🤣

Tropical vacation for a Wisconsinite.

In-Depth Beis Carry-On Luggage Review After 2+ Years

By: Indigo Sahara, M.A. | Published: July 14, 2025 | Updated: December 19, 2025

After owning the Beis carry-on in maple for over two years, it’s time I give you an in-depth honest Beis carry-on luggage review so that you can decide for yourself whether Beis luggage is worth the money. (By the way, if you do decide that Beis luggage is right for you, you can click here for $20 off your first Beis luggage purchase!)

Beis Carry-On Luggage Review Of Exterior

Starting with the hardshell exterior, the first front-facing feature of the Beis carry-on suitcase is the multi-purpose strap. You can use this strap to attach small bags, duty-free bags, headphone cases or small personal items to the front of your suitcase temporarily. I personally find this strap most helpful when using the airport bathroom. When I don’t want a handheld airport bag, such as a duty-free bag or small belt bag, touching the dirty airport bathroom floor, I’ll attach the bag to my luggage with this strap.

Next, a paddle handle is a luggage luxury I didn’t know I needed until using the Beis carry-on. Not only does this padded handle make lugging your suitcase around much more comfortable, but it is also built with a cool neoprene material to prevent sweaty hands. I’ve noticed that this extra comfort also helps me keep my stress-induced tight grip a little more relaxed throughout every travel day. Good bye, hand cramps!

Whenever I review a Beis product, I always commend the Beis product team for all of the genius features the team invents. One of these features includes different shaped zippers to differentiate the luggage opener from the luggage expander. The zippers that actually open the suitcase are slim — shaped to fit into the built-in lock that I’ll detail later. The zipper that opens the two inch expander, on the other hand, is a larger rounded zipper. Now, you’ll never accidentally open the wrong zipper again.

Furthermore, durability is one of the most important factors when deciding whether or not to purchase a new piece of luggage. The Beis carry-on roller wheels prove durable, as I have never had any wheel loosen or break. Some suitcase spinner wheels are cheaply made and easily snap off, but this is not the case with the Beis luggage from my experience. Although, to play devil’s advocate, my husband owns the Level8 carry-on and claims his wheels glide on carpeted airport floors much smoother than my Beis carry-on wheels.

As I alluded to earlier, the Beis carry-on roller comes with a built-in TSA-approved lock. This lock keeps all of your belongings secure from theft yet still adheres to TSA regulations. When you first purchase your Beis carry-on, you can set your own three-digit code with the instructions provided by Beis.

Another impressive feature on the Beis carry-on luggage is the weight indicator located on the side handle. When you lift the suitcase with this handle, the indicator will inform you whether your bag is over or under the standard regulated 50-pound limit for checked baggage. If your bag is overweight, a red color will flash on the indicator. If your bag is under 50 pounds, no red color will flash.

However, even though the majority of the exterior features are genius, I must admit defeat on suitcase scuffing. After two years of thorough use, my hardshell case has picked up a variety of scratches and scuff marks. These markings are mostly due to checking the suitcase, so I have since invested in the Beis carry-on luggage cover, which I love. This is a known complaint among Beis luggage owners, unfortunately. Luckily, some scuffing victims have had success removing said scuff marks with a magic eraser sponge. Also, it’s worth noting that although the Beis carry-on has a hard shell, it is not built to be waterproof.

Beis Carry-On Luggage Review Of Interior

beis carry on roller

Now, let’s review the clamshell interior of the Beis carry-on. Like the exterior, the interior offers a variety of unique helpful features. These features include several pockets, a built-in wet-bag, compression straps, a removable compression flap and more. It also comes with a couple branded drawstring bags for shoes and/or dirty laundry. Thanks to these features, I have successfully packed for over two-week trips in a carry-on only.

First, the left side of the Beis carry-on interior includes a full zipper flap to keep your belongings organized inside the deep compartment. On the zipper flap, there are two large zipper pockets: one regular pocket and one clear water resistant pocket that acts as a built-in wet bag. This smart built-in wet bag is perfect for wet swimsuits and dirty clothes at the end of your trip. It’s easily my favorite feature of the entire Beis carry-on.

Moreover, on the right side of the clamshell there are two compression straps to keep your packed clothing tightly secure. I personally use the Beis compression packing cubes in addition to the compression straps to keep my clothing extra organized. There is also a long zipper pocket located along the left side of the left compartment, which ideal for smaller packable items like charging cords or jewelry.

Lastly, the suitcase comes with an optional full-size compression flap that snaps in and out of the left compartment if you choose to use it. There are two additional zipped pockets on the compression flap: one mesh pocket and one regular pocket. Many Beis users love this compression flap. However, I rarely use it. I personally think that it takes up too much suitcase space, so I usually opt to snap it out and leave it at home. But, it’s a nice feature to have on hand, nonetheless.

Beis Carry-On Dimensions

The Beis carry-on dimensions for the standard size carry-on roller exterior, including the wheels and handles, are 22.8″ height x 15.7″ width x 9.8″ depth. Unpacked, it weighs 8.36 pounds, which is on the heavier side. Consecutively, the Beis carry-on dimensions of the interior are 21″ height x 14.5″ width x 9.8″ depth. The USA regulations for carry-on size luggage, on the other hand, measures slightly smaller than the Beis carry-on at 22″ height x 14″ width x 9″ depth.

This fact then begs the question: does the Beis carry-on fit in the overhead compartment on planes? The answer is, yes, but it ultimately depends on the aircraft. But, be reassured. I have personally never had an issue carrying this piece of luggage onto a plane. Likewise, I’ve never been questioned by airline personnel as to whether this luggage is carry-on size. Although, some Beis customers have reported being unable to carry on this roller occasionally.

Sometimes, small regional aircraft don’t have any overhead space for roller bags, thus requiring rollers to be gate checked. But, this isn’t an issue of whether the Beis carry-on roller fits in the overhead compartment. Rather, this is an issue of whether there will be space for any rollers at all.

To solve this dilemma, I am always prepared to gate check my Beis carry-on luggage if asked by the gate agent. Traveling with the custom fit Beis carry-on luggage cover gives me peace of mind that my bag will stay in tip-top shape if it is checked last minute. Reddit Beis Carry-On Reviews

Finally, to give you additional unbiased feedback about the Beis carry-on roller so that you can make a fully informed purchasing decision, here are a few different Beis carry-on luggage review quotes from Reddit.

“…I absolutely love the Beis carry-on roller. I’ve been using it as my main carry on bag for the last few months. I’ve used it for domestic trips (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, San Francisco, Tampa) and international trips (Panama City, Guadalajara, Medellin) and it’s been great. I’m definitely an over-packer and in the past I always struggled having to cut out certain outfits/extra items because of limited space but with the Beis I’ve almost always been able to carry everything I want and then some. Its really light when empty and easy to maneuver around. And so far, it always fits in the overhead compartment. The quality of the bag is great… And even after months of use, it’s still in great condition” (by Reddit user ikindoflikemovies).

“The Beis is one pound heavier than the Amazon Basics carry-on. I don’t know if it’s worth it. To me a light piece of luggage is a luxury in itself. Just got the Beis. It’s very beautiful but is it worth an extra pound?” (by Reddit user hejslm).

“I have the Beis Atlas pink set, very difficult to keep clean. My fabric of my zippers are gray now and some black scuff marks will not come out. The retractable feature to attach the suitcases doesn’t work and the outer shell was damaged the first time I used it. Has some neat features but I don’t think it is worth the cost” (by Reddit user midtownkitten).
