Needless to say, these 100K Chase Ultimate Rewards can go a long way, especially when redeeming these points via transfer partners like Hyatt.
Plus, that’s just one of the ways you can use these highly valuable points. A couple of other ways include four free nights at the Alila Maldives, four free nights at the Hyatt Regency Maui, five free nights at the Hyatt Regency Paris or even a free lie-flat business class flight on a transfer partner airline to a destination of your choice. Now, the Chase Sapphire Preferred does have an annual fee of $95, which could deter some travel hacking newbies. But, when you’re responsible with your credit cards and utilize card benefits (it’s easy, I promise), then these annual fees can pay off tenfold.

- Free DashPass membership.
- Some of the best car rental insurance coverage you can get with a travel credit card.
Additionally, when you have either the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you’re allowed to redeem points from valuable cash back cards, like the Chase Ink business cards, for travel. This way, you can open even more cards down the line, earn more big welcome offers and travel for free even more — without breaking Chase’s 5/24 rule, which we’ll discuss next.
Why I Recommend This Card For Beginners
This is currently my top recommended travel credit card for travel hacking beginners (check out my beginner guide to travel hacking here) for a variety of reasons. However, I also recommend this being one of the first travel hacking cards you open to adhere to Chase’s 5/24 rule, which only allows you to open new Chase credit cards if you have opened five or less credit cards in the past 24 months. Yes, this means Chase will deny your credit card applications if you have opened five cards in the past two years.
Five cards in two years may seem like a lot for someone who is new to the points and miles game. But, trust me, most travel hackers are opening a new card every 30-90 days to capitalize on new card welcome offers just like this one. That’s how to earn 100K points and miles in just a few months regularly in the points and miles world.
Here’s How This Card Is A Chase 5/24 Loophole
The loophole to the Chase 5/24 rule is that business cards do not count toward your 5/24, only personal cards do. So, by opening the Chase Sapphire Preferred (a personal card) before you open meet the 5/24, you’ll enable yourself to get hundreds of thousands more Chase Ultimate Rewards points with their cash back business cards (even if that business is just selling stuff on Facebook marketplace).
